Mr. Salem Al Sabea - President

Salem Al-Sabea is Specialist Petrophysicist with Kuwait Oil Company(KOC). He received a BSc degree in Geology from Kuwait University in 1990. The following year he joined KOC as a Wellsite Geologist. Since 1994 Salem has worked as a Petrophysicist in the Field Development Division (South). He has participated in pilot log-inject-log, cased hole surveillance, and other south Kuwait cased and open-hole interpretation projects. Since 2000 he has worked as a Senior Petrophysicist and has acquired new petrophysical analysis techniques (carbonate reservoir), mastering new Geolog software enhancements for formation evaluation. He has worked as a Formation Evaluation Support for the Minagish Secondary Recovery and is Formation Evaluation Support for the update and improve field wide HKW & Heavy Oil evaluation process for reserves. Salem is also acting as project coordinator the cased hole surveillance Activities. He also made significant contributions to the OOWC/HO, Surveillance and Next Generation Facies Project. activities were carried out according to KOC standards (i.e., planning, logging, evaluation, archiving and distribution). He also coordinated the coring acquisition for the Burgan and Minagish formations. Salem showed good leadership in tackling the problems faced with sorting out the geology, pore structure and reservoir properties of the Minagish. Salem represented the formation evaluation aspect of the Minagish in planning discussions for the future direction for this reservoir. Applied new APS neutron porosity in cased hole to evaluate the effective porosity in Minagish Reservoir.
Salem showed an excellent work ethic and leadership skills in the major projects. In addition, Salem is involved with two industry technical planning committees and is planning to make a presentation to an industry conference. These activities are critical to Salem's development as a petrophysicist and as a KOC employee.
Acquired new petrophysical analysis techniques Wave Sonic software (Open Hole Wave Sonic processing). Mastered new Geolog software enhancements. Coordinated wireline log quality control for 5 new wells. Handled on FE training programs for Kuwait University Students. Developed PNC transforms for ROS study.
Leading KOC Petrophysics network meeting, the main purpose is to share the information and communications among the FE Team Group FD (N/S/W) & Exploration in KOC, and also is to provided the new technology that available, used and applied in each division within KOC.

Dr. Naim Al Jabari - Consultant Petrophysicist Halliburton

Dr. Naim Al Jabari has graduated with a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Institute of Petroleum Engineering, Heriot-Watt University (UK). His PhD was sponsored by Prof. Brian Smart (Head of institute and Geomechanics Group). Dr. Naim Al-Jabari expertise is in designing and modifying sensing systems for petrophysics laboratory. His PhD resulted in patenting two new novel sensing techniques. The first to measure permeability without touching the sample (First non-contact mini-permeameter) and the second is laser acoustic sensor that is able of measuring AVO effect in the laboratory for the first time. Dr. Naim Al Jabari is multi-disciplinary engineer that is able of thinking out of the box, to modify current core analysis techniques and design new techniques that are able of measuring new properties never been measured before in the laboratory. Dr. Naim Al Jabari believes that core samples are not analyzed to full extend using current commercial techniques. More valuable information can be extracted if proper handling and analyzing procedures are followed, especially in the case of Carbonate samples. Dr. Al-Jabari was involved in both academic and industrial projects. These projects varied between different petroleum domain such as core analysis, formation evaluation, geomechanics, smart well technology and EOR using Geomechanics.
After graduation in 2005, Dr. Al-Jabari joined ADIDCO in Abu Dhabi as Business Development Director for 2 years responsible for marketing and technically supporting new technologies introduced to UAE oil industry. In 2007, Dr. Al-Jabari joined Schlumberger as petrophysics where he is involved in marketing, planning, processing and interpreting Schlumberger wirelinepetrophysics services, multi-disciplinary reservoir study, geomechanics and corrosion. In June 2011, Dr. Al-Jabari joined Halliburton as consultant Petrophysicist to lead Middle East petrophysics team in both exploration and field development studies. Dr. Naim Al-Jabari diverse expertise in research, management and field operations allows him to coordinate between different groups, making him an extensional asset for exploration and field development projects.
